Instructions
Make the Simple Syrup

Prepare the Apple Mix
Take a peeled, cored, and diced apple.Place the diced apple in a mortar and pestle.
Make the Apple Syrup
Use a muddler or mortar and pestle to mash and muddle the diced apple. This helps release the apple's juices and flavors.Add half a shot of simple syrup to the muddled apple. The sweetness can be adjusted to your taste preferences.Sprinkle in about 1 teaspoon of brown sugar (or adjust to taste) to enhance the apple's sweetness and flavor.Combine the ingredients in a small sauce pan and cook over medium heat for 7 minutes. Strain the syrup out of the mixture in a nut milk bag.
Assemble the Apple Crisp Macchiato
Fill a lidded cup or mason jar with ice cubes. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of apple syrup into the glass. Pour 2 shots of freshly brewed espresso over the ice. Place the lid securely on the glass. Shake the glass vigorously to chill the espresso and combine it with the ice. Pour oat milk over the top and garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.
Make Optional Whipped Cream
Pour whipped cream into a standing mixer or mixing bowl. Beat on medium low until stiff peaks form.
