  2. To help soften the waste the body can’t get rid of through hydration.
  3. Soups with fermented ingredients have good bacteria that will help rebalance the gut.

Traditional mushroom soup is not good for diarrhea because it’s usually made with milk or heavy cream. Heavy cream and milk are both dairy products which can cause more diarrhea in lactose intolerant people.

Is Chicken Broth Good For Diarrhea?

Chicken broth is excellent for diarrhea for a few reasons. By definition broth is unseasoned. This means that it has no salt (sodium) in it. Since sodium can trigger diarrhea broth won’t irritate your stomach at all!

Broth has many health benefits including gut healing benefits. Broth has glycine in it which helps reduce inflammation in the gut and repair your gut lining. This is helpful for leaky gut, ulcers, ulcerative colitis and celiac disease.

The gelatin in broth can also help improve digestion by increasing the amount of HCL (hydrochloride acid) in your stomach.

Chicken broth is also warm. The warm liquid will help soothe the walls of the intestine and relax the muscles. This helps decrease the muscle spasms in the colon that cause diarrhea.

Chicken broth is one of the best choices for diarrhea in the acute phase. This means diarrhea that is violent and frequently occurring.

Is Chicken Noodle Soup Good For Diarrhea?

While chicken broth is a great choice for severe diarrhea. Chicken noodle soup can be good for diarrhea if you’re on the mend. Once your stomach isn’t quite so sensitive chicken noodle soup could be a great first food to eat after the diarrhea episode is over.

Chicken noodle soup isn’t as good for active diarrhea as broth or a blended vegetable soup since it has higher sodium content. And meat and noodles are a bit harder to digest.
