What Does Buffalo Wild Wings Cook Their Fries In?

At Buffalo Wild Wings they don’t fry their food in oil like most restaurants.

Buffalo Wild Wings is special because all their wings are fried in beef tallow which is a high quality fat source coming from animals.

Animal fat is worlds better than vegetable oil, because vegetable oils and olive oilcan be high in omega 6’s which cause inflammation.

This is great to see at a fast food chain, and it means you won’t have to feel bad about ordering the next time you order those extra wings!

But at the same time if you’re a vegetarian or vegan you cannot eat fried foods at Buffalo Wild Wings.

Why Are My Potato Wedges Soggy?

Your potatoes could be soggy for one or two reasons. The first reason is that you simply didn’t cook them long enough. The oven acts as a dehydrator, sucking the water out of the potatoes and making them crispy as they cook.

If you undercook the potato wedges they will be soft. More like a baked potato than a crispy fry.

The second reason your potatoes might be soggy is because they have too much starch. The starch that’s naturally found in potatoes keeps the potatoes from getting hard when you cook them. When you think of starch think of soft.

To get the starch out of the potato simply soak the wedges in a bowl of water before you season and cook them. Soak them for one hour. Some people say that you should soak them over night.

In my personal experience one hour of soaking has always been enough. Once the potatoes are done soaking in water make sure to dry them off really well.

If the potatoes are wet the water will prevent the fat source (oil or butter) from sticking to them. Without a coating of fat on the potatoes they’ll burn in the oven.

Trust me I’ve figured this out from personal experience. Don’t make the same mistakes I have!

Are Buffalo Wild Wings Potato Wedges Vegan?

If you’re vegan I unfortunately have to report that Buffalo Wild Wings potato wedges are not vegan because they are fried in tallow. Tallow is a fat that’s rendered from beef.

Can You Make These Potato Wedges in the Air Fryer

Yes I’ve made these potato wedges in the air fryer before. The best way to air fry these potatoes is the cook them for 25 minutes at 400 degrees in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

How to Store Buffalo Wild Wings Potato Wedges

Storing potato wedges leftovers properly is important to maintain their flavor and texture. Here are some steps to help you store potato wedges leftovers:

  1. Cool Down: Allow the potato wedges to cool down to room temperature before storing them. This helps prevent condensation inside the storage container, which can make the wedges soggy.
  2. Choose a Container: Use an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag for storage. Make sure the container is clean and dry.
  3. Separate from Sauce: If your potato wedges are coated in sauce or condiments, consider storing the sauce separately. This prevents the wedges from becoming too soggy during storage.
  4. Layering: If you need to stack the wedges, place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper between the layers to prevent them from sticking together.

Should I Keep Potato Wedges in the Fridge or Freezer?

You can freeze potato wedges for up to five months but keep in mind that they reheat better if they don’t have Parmesan cheese on them. So if you plan on freezing your leftover Buffalo Wild Wings potato wedges don’t add the cheese until you reheat them.

Store in the Fridge: Refrigeration is the best way to store potato wedges. Place them in the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking. Store them in the coldest part of the fridge, typically around 32-40°F (0-4°C).

Use within a Few Days: Potato wedges are best when consumed within 2-3 days of cooking. After this time, their quality may deteriorate, and they can become less crispy.

Store in the Freezer: You can store potato wedges in the freezer for up to 5 months cooked or raw. It’s a great idea to prep this potato wedge recipe and then to freeze them for later.

That way on a busy week day night you can dump them onto a parchment lined baking sheet and cook them up! This will eliminate the mess and prep time on a busy weekday night.
