Ingredient Substitutions for Chipotle Southwest Sauce (Subway)

If you want to make this sauce without having to run to the store, here are a few ingredient swaps you can try!

  • Vegan Ranch Dressing – Use regular ranch
  • Vegan Mayo – Regular mayo or greek yogurt would work well.
  • Chipotles in adobo – I like to use sriracha sauce instead.
  • Garlic Powder – Fresh garlic works well.
  • Chili Powder – Cayenne or black pepper works well.
  • Mustard Powder – A teaspoon of Dijon mustard will do the trick!

How Long Does Chipotle Southwest Sauce Last?

This sauce will last in the fridge for up to five days in an air tight container. But you can freeze it for up to 4 months. I like freezing sauce in ice cube trays.

That way I can defrost the perfect amount of sauce for 1 serving at a time. Especially since you cannot refreeze the sauce after it has already been thawed out once.

Can You Freeze Chipotle Southwest Sauce?

Actually, one bright side to making this chipotle southwest sauce with vegan ingredients is that you can freeze it! Traditional southwest sauce made with real ranch dressing and mayo doesn’t freeze well.

Because when dairy is frozen it looses it’s smooth texture. The water molecules in the dairy expand when they freeze. This breaks the structure of the dairy, creating a gritty texture.

Vegan southwest sauce is made from fats, nuts, seeds and water. All of which freeze beautifully. Your sauce will still be silky smooth after you defrost it.

Is Chipotle Sauce from Subway Keto and Low Carb?

Yes! I have great news, this chipotle style southwestern sauce is both keto and low carb. Each 2 tablespoon sized serving only has 1 gram of carbs!

Is Chipotle Southwest Sauce Vegan?

Traditional chipotle southwest sauce is not vegan. Most recipes use ranch dressing and mayonnaise. Mayo is made with eggs and ranch contains dairy from buttermilk or yogurt.

My recipe uses vegan versions of ranch and mayo so it’s vegan. If you don’t want to make vegan chipotle southwest sauce, you can use regular ranch dressing and mayo.

Is Chipotle Southwest Sauce Gluten Free?

Yes chipotle southwest sauce is gluten free!
